QB spy
Mirror the quarterback
Assigns a defender (usually a fast linebacker) to mirror the QB instead of rushing or covering — if he scrambles, the spy is waiting. The standard mobile-QB answer.
When it applies
Against scrambling QBs and zone-read teams.
+ StrengthsTakes away the scramble; cleans up broken plays.
− Trade-offsYou're rushing one fewer or covering one fewer; a patient QB picks apart the missing defender.
